Carnegie Research Project on The Medieval Bible in Scotland
Two members of the CMRS, Dr Steve Boardman (History) and Dr Eyal Poleg (Centre for the History of the Book) secured a Carnegie grant to support a one-year project (session 2011-12) on the Medieval Bible in Scotland.
The project involved a collaboration between the CMRS, the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at the University of Glasgow, and archival research collections in the NLS and NAS and those Scottish universities with significant medieval manuscript holdings. The aim of the project was, firstly, to collate evidence for the production, readership and use of bibles in Scotland in the period 800-1500. A second strand of the project involved the construction of an online database of biblical manuscripts in Scottish libraries.
A series of seminars and workshops were held in the course 2012 to outline the work of the project team.
